J. Bernard Brannan, III

J. Bernard Brannan III is an attorney at the Birmingham, Alabama, office of the nation’s largest personal injury law firm of Morgan & Morgan. He has been offering personalized legal services to plaintiffs from the 67 counties of Alabama in matters related to:

Having served as a defense attorney, Mr. Brannan has immense experience being a part of numerous hearings, arbitrations, mediations, depositions and bench trials throughout Alabama state and federal courts. Combining the insights gained with his persistence and tenacity, he fights for the rights of those who have been injured due to the careless acts of others.

A 2007 political science and government magna cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi, Mr. Brannan was the recipient of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors Scholarship and a highly active participant in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He completed his J.D. in 2010 at the University of Alabama School of Law, winning George Peach Taylor Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy. 

Beginning his legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge J. Scott Vowell of the Alabama 10th Judicial Circuit, Mr. Brannan worked for a Birmingham-based law firm defending insurance companies. A faculty member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association Bibb Allen Memorial Trial Academy, he has lectured on trial skills and jury selection to continuing legal education groups.

Driven by a strong passion for serving his community, Mr. Brannan devotes his time and skills to organizations such as the Project Homeless Connect, the Volunteer Lawyers Birmingham, the Bridgeways Alabama and the Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School. He chairs the Regional Advisory Council for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alabama and takes part in the yearly Trailblaze Challenge to raise funds for critically ill children. 

Mr. Brannan was listed among the Most Prolific Trial Attorneys of Alabama by The Alabama Jury Verdict Reporter in 2016. Along with the other awards and recognitions, he has been listed in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch since 2021. An associate fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA), he is part of the LCA’s Complex Commercial Litigation Institute.
