James H. Wettermark

An accomplished personal injury attorney, James H. Wettermark has a proven record of winning tens of millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on behalf of those who have suffered because of others’ actions. A senior partner at Wettermark Keith in Birmingham, he serves clients throughout Chattanooga, Montgomery, Huntsville and Dothan, Alabama.

With deep legal knowledge and nearly 45 years of legal experience, Mr. Wettermark has successfully represented clients from Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia in cases involving Federal Employers' Liability Act (FELA) railroad cases, wrongful death, toxic baby food, Social Security Disability, motor vehicle accidents, construction accidents, boat and aviation accidents, workers’ compensation, premises liability, mass torts, disability insurance and nursing home abuse.

A 1975 Bachelor of Science graduate of Auburn University, Mr. Wettermark earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1978. He is licensed to practice in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th, 6th and 11th Circuits and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee; the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia; the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama; the Northern District of Ohio; and the Southern District of Illinois.

A former pilot with 2,500-plus flight hours, Mr. Wettermark has flown across the southeastern United States to attend to his injured clients. As a result of his trial efficiency and strategic acumen, he is board-certified as a specialist in civil trial law by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification. Some of his record-setting results include:

• A $34 million verdict in a FELA case
• A $6.2 million settlement in a medical malpractice case
• $2 million compensation for a victim of railroad injury

Mr. Wettermark is an active member of the American Association for Justice, the Academy of Rail Labor Attorneys (ARLA), the State Bar of Georgia, the American Bar Association, the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Alabama Association for Justice, the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association.
