Josh J. Wright is the managing partner at Hollis, Wright & Clay, P.C., in Birmingham, Alabama. Focusing his practice solely on personal injury matters, including wrongful death, dram shop, industrial accidents, products and pharmaceutical issues, he serves clients throughout the state of Alabama and has over 23 years of experience in the legal arena. 

Passionate about upholding justice at every turn, Mr. Wright fights aggressively for his clients’ rights and liberties. A zealous and tireless advocate, he understands the impact that injuries and harm caused by someone else’s careless and negligent actions can have on an individual and focuses on his clients’ interests and needs. With a bachelor’s degree in economics from Auburn University, Mr. Wright obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa. In law school, he was inducted into the Order of Barristers. He was a member of the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board and the University of Alabama National Moot Court Team. 

Additionally, Mr. Wright was awarded the Corpus Juris Secundum Academic Excellence Award and the Edward M. Friend Outstanding Oral Advocacy Award. He also was the recipient of the Lewis F. Powell, Jr. Medal for Excellence in oral advocacy and was the senior editor of the Alabama Law & Psychology Review.

Mr. Wright is actively involved and has memberships in prominent legal associations, including the Alabama State Bar and the Alabama Association for Justice. He was formerly on the board of directors of the Alabama Civil Justice Foundation, which focuses on making basic necessities, education and job opportunities accessible for those who cannot afford them. 

Having written extensively, Mr. Wright has published a lot of his work in renowned journals. He is passionate about helping those who need it the most and has spent a lot of his time as a “big brother” at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham. He has immense experience coaching over 50 youth teams in basketball, football and baseball.

  • Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board of Directors (January 2009 Board Meeting). Mr. Wright lobbied the Board for stricter rules and regulations - requiring bars, restaurants and convenience stores across the State of Alabama to obtain more insurance -- that would protect Alabama citizens from drunk drivers. His work changed two Alabama ABC regulations in January 2010, including the elimination of "eroding" limits (i.e., allowed defendants to bill their costs of defense against the insurance available to a drunk driving victim), and requiring insurance companies to notify the ABC Board if they plan to cancel liquor liability insurance for non-payment of premiums.
