Liz Young

As a partner at Dummier Young LLC, Liz Young divides her practice between criminal defense and estate planning and administration. She works out of the firm’s offices in Gardendale and Birmingham, Alabama, and she provides representation to clients throughout the greater metropolitan area. After graduating from Jacksonville State University, Ms. Young went on to pursue her legal education at Birmingham School of Law, and in 2011, she was awarded her Juris Doctor. She became admitted to practice before all Alabama state courts later in that year.

In her criminal defense practice, Ms. Young provides effective and aggressive advocacy to people who have been accused by the state with having committed misdemeanors or felonies. Her cases have included drug possession, driving under the influence of alcohol, theft, shoplifting, burglary, embezzlement and other white collar offenses, homicide, sex crimes, and sexual assault. Throughout her career, Ms. Young has been able to obtain positive results in the form of dismissals, acquittals, and plea agreements that she has negotiated with prosecutors, and this has led to a great deal of acclaim from other members of the criminal defense bar, including being named as one of the Top 10 Criminal Defense Attorneys Under Age 40 by the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys.

Ms. Young has also prepared and reviewed wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives for her estate planning clients, and she guides others through what can be a complex process of probate. In addition to the aforementioned honor, she has received other favorable recognition from her colleagues, including being named to B-Metro magazine’s annual Top Attorneys list in 2019.
