Attorney Matt Abbott proudly represents the legal needs of those with personal injury and wrongful death claims.  From his law practice in Birmingham, Alabama, he focuses on the litigation areas of tractor-trailer accidents, automobile accidents, defective product liability, and medical and pharmaceutical negligence.  He also serves clients who need representation for workers' compensation as well as those who have been victims of consumer fraud and insurance bad faith.  Abbott also strives to protect those who are the victim of civil rights violations and wrongful govenrment oppression.  Abbott also works to hold those accountable for fraud against the government by his involvement with multiple qui tam claims under the False Claims Act.  Abbott currently has litigation pending in multiple states and jurisdictions across the country.  

After his graduation from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2000, Mr. Abbott was admitted to the Alabama State Bar.  Additionally, he is licensed to practice law in Mississippi and Georgia as well as in the Poarch Band of Creek Indians Tribal Court.  He is a member of the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama as well as for the Northern and Southern Districts of Mississippi, the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and 11th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

Mr. Abbott recognizes the value of professional organizations and belongs to the Executive Committee of the Alabama Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the Mississippi Association for Justice and the Southern Trial Lawyers Association.  Abbott is also a member of the National Police Accountability Project, Barristers for the Supreme Court of the United States of America, the St. Clair County Bar Association and the Birmingham Bar Association.

Mr. Abbott's peers awarded him an AV-Preeminent* rating with Martindale-Hubbell in 2010, at the age of 36.  That same year, Business Alabama magazine honored him as an Alabama Outstanding Young Lawyer, and did so again in 2012, 2013 and 2014.  In 2006, and at the age of 32, Abbott was accepted into the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and remains a current member.  In 2012, Mr. Abbott was chosen by The National Trial Lawyers, "Top 40 under 40," being recognized for the same award in 2013, as well as being selcted by The American Sociaty of Legal Advocates as "Top 40 Litigation Lawyer Under 40 In The State of Alabama."  Also in 2013, Abbott was recognized as a "Top 10 Attorney" for the State of Alabama by National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys.  In 2016, Abbott was recognized as a "Top 10" attorney for the State of Alabama by the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys, selected by B-Metro Magazine as a Top Lawyer of 2016 and was selected as a Lifetime Charter Member of Rue Ratings Best Attorneys of America.  As a respected voice of experience in the legal field, he is a sought-after speaker on legal programs in the state.
