Verdicts / Settlements (Case Results)

  • Attorneys at M&H Legal helped two individuals terminate the parental rights of two biological parents who had abandoned their minor child., 2024
  • Juvenile Court - Termination of Parental Rights/adoption: helped a mother terminate the parental rights of a father who refused to (emotionally, financially, or otherwise) support his biological child. The minor child was subsequently adopted by her stepfather.
  • Divorce - custody: Helped a father secure joint custody of his children and successfully defend against frivolous domestic violence allegations after a final trial.
  • Juvenile Court -  Dependency: Helped a grandparent secure custody of her grandchildren as a result of the mother and father struggling with drug addiction.
  • Protection from Abuse - Defendant: I represented a mother wherein she acted in self defense and defense of her child from an abusive significant other. In an effort to circumvent the facts, the significant other filed a petition for protection from abuse claiming the mother was the initial aggressor. The significant other’s petition was denied and the mother was able to remove the significant other from her life.
  • Protection from Abuse - Plaintiff: I represented a mother in law and her daughter who wherein threats were made to shoot them both. The case was resolved and the Defendant was forced to surrender his firearms and a protection order was put in place.
  • Breach of Contract: client had an issue with a vendor who - after nearly two years - had not been producing a service for which was paid (headstone for client’s father’s grave). I issued a demand letter that efficiently resolved the issue and brought the client and his family the closure they deserved.
  • DHR defense: Represented a Mother who was under investigation due to frivolous reports made to the Department of Human Resources. We successfully terminated a DHR safety plan and helped the Mother keep her children out of foster care. After demanding a trial in front of the juvenile court, DHR voluntarily dismissed their case.
  • Juvenile Court - Dependency: Represented a hardworking father and successfully preserved his parental rights while also providing for grandparent visitation to allow the paternal grandparents court ordered visitation with their grandchild.
  • Military Divorce/Military Retirement Division: Communicated and coordinated with DFAS to divide and secure my client’s equitable share of military retirement.

These comments were made by fellow attorneys during the annual nomination process.

“Josh is the standard by which thoughtful, informed, quick-witted and fearless advocacy is measured. I've worked with him; I've worked against him, and I could talk law to him until the wee hours, and I come out of it better lawyer for doing so.”

“Hard-working young lawyer with a bright future. Excellent with clients, honest, passionate and intelligent.”

“Josh works hard for his clients. He is always professional, and the best trial lawyer I know.”

“I am lucky to work with Josh Holcomb every day. I learn so much by bouncing ideas of his razor sharp mind. He is a confident, capable advocate in the courtroom.”

“Josh has the perfect attitude for high conflict family law / child custody litigation. He can feed off the negative energy coming at our client and turn that into a feeling of peace and support for his clients. When I perform "exit meetings" with clients I can't count how many times Josh's energy and advocacy have been mentioned specifically.”
