Tara Helms is one of the founding partners of Martin & Helms, P.C. Focusing her practice exclusively on personal injury and wrongful death claims, her firm is located in Huntsville, Alabama, and she represents clients throughout Madison County and other parts of the state.
Ms. Helms’s client base consists of people who have been harmed due to the negligent acts or omissions of other parties. Her cases have been grounded on medical malpractice, motor vehicle crashes, defective products, nursing home abuse, construction site accidents, and premises liability, and she has been successful in her efforts to obtain substantial amounts of compensation for her clients through negotiated settlements and jury awards. Some of her representative results have included a jury verdict in excess of $1.5 million for a client who was injured in a motor vehicle accident and an $850,000 settlement in a case involving premises liability. Ms. Helms’s track record both in and out of the courtroom has led to a great deal of positive recognition from her fellow members of the bar, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a “Superb” peer review rating through Avvo.
Ms. Helms attended The University of Alabama in Huntsville and received a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in political science in 1992. After obtaining her master’s degree in public affairs in 1994 from the same institution, she enrolled at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, and she served on the Cumberland Law Review and participated in moot court competitions prior to graduating with her Juris Doctor in 1998. Admitted to practice in Alabama, Ms. Helms is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle Districts of Alabama, and she is a member of several professional organizations.
