A 1986 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in nursing, Ms. Turner attended the Alabama School of Law, where she obtained her Juris Doctor in 1989. She is also a graduate of the intensive Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyer’s College and the National Criminal Defense College and recipient of the Roderick Bedlow Sr., Lifetime Achievement Award which recognizes the top criminal defense lawyer in the State of Alabama. 

A leader in her field, Ms. Turner taught trial advocacy to law students at the Alabama School of Law from 1996 to 2019. She also served as the President of the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association and active member of the Alabama State Bar, the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Volunteer Lawyers Program.

Outside of the law, Mary serves on the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention board of directors for the Alabama Chapter, the Kristen Amerson Youth Foundation, the Hank Poore Foundation, the Junior League of Tuscaloosa, and is a sustaining member and on the Chapter Advisory Board of Kappa Delta, Zeta Chapter, University of Alabama.
