Michelle Nesbett

Michelle S. Nesbett is a senior attorney at the law firm of Birch Horton Bittner & Cherot. She aggressively and diligently advocates for the rights and liberties of the residents of Anchorage, Alaska, who are accused of federal and state criminal charges, including white collar crimes such as copyright infringement, cybercrimes, embezzlement, wage and identity theft, fraud, Ponzi schemes, insider trading, labor racketeering, money laundering and forgery. 

An erstwhile criminal prosecutor of the state of Alaska, Ms. Nesbett is familiar with her area's court proceedings and the criminal justice system and has obtained many favorable results for her clients over her career spanning 15-plus years. She also has experience handling professional liability, complex commercial litigation and appellate matters.

Ms. Nesbett majored in business economics and obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2001. She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2006. She is admitted to practice in Alaska, California, the United States District Court for the District of Alaska and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

In an effort to stay active in her legal circle, Ms. Nesbett associates herself with several professional organizations such as the Anchorage Association of Women Lawyers and the Federal Bar Association – Alaska Chapter. She also served in the mediation panel of the Alaska Bar Association. 

Ms. Nesbett devotes a part of her time to serving her local community. She is a board member of the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center, a medical organization that provides high-quality health care services to people, regardless of capability to pay.
