Attorney Profile

A shareholder of May, Potenza, Baran & Gillespie, P.C., David N. Horowitz is the head of the firm's family law and domestic relations practice group. Focusing his practice exclusively on that area, he provides representation to clients throughout the state of Arizona from the firm's office in Phoenix. Mr. Horowitz has been certified as a specialist in family law by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of Arizona.

In his divorce practice, Mr. Horowitz assists people whose marriages are ending and who are grappling with related issues such as child and spousal support, the division of complex assets and debts, and child custody and visitation. An effective litigator, he has also been trained in mediation and collaborative divorce, and he often helps his clients attempt to reach an accord through those alternative dispute resolution methods. Other family law matters in which Mr. Horowitz has significant experience include grandparents' rights and the preparation and review of prenuptial agreements. He is held in high esteem by members of the legal community, as evidenced by his receipt of an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.

A fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Mr. Horowitz is active in other professional groups as well. He has served on the executive council of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona, and he is a member of the Maricopa County Bar Association and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Mr. Horowitz was awarded his Juris Doctor summa cum laude by the University of Arizona College of Law in 1990. Admitted to practice in Arizona, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

*AV®, AV Preeminent®, Martindale-Hubbell Distinguished and Martindale-Hubbell Notable are certification marks used under license in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell® is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Rating™ fall into two categories – legal ability and general ethical standards.
