Derek Debus

Derek Debus is an attorney at Stone Rose Law, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he offers legal representation to clients in a range of legal matters involving veterans benefits, military law, criminal defense, firearms law and VA disability claims. Through his practice, he advocates for individuals navigating complex legal and administrative systems, including veterans seeking disability compensation and clients facing criminal allegations.

Mr. Debus earned his Juris Doctor from the Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in 2019. During law school, he served as a staff editor on law review and as captain of a mock trial team, experiences that helped strengthen his legal research, writing and courtroom advocacy skills. He also received multiple academic honors, including recognition as a Willard H. Pedrick Honors Scholar. In addition, he earned several CALI Awards for excellence in subjects such as torts, criminal law and constitutional law, among others.

Since being admitted to practice in Arizona in 2020, Mr. Debus has expanded his legal practice to include appearances before the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. His work includes representing veterans pursuing benefits claims and appeals, as well as individuals involved in criminal defense and firearms-related legal matters.

Mr. Debus focuses on developing individualized legal strategies tailored to the circumstances of each case and is committed to protecting the rights and interests of those he represents. His background in advocacy, litigation and veterans-related matters continues to inform his approach to providing strategic and client-focused legal representation.

Beyond his legal practice, Mr. Debus remains active in professional and community organizations. He is a member of the National Academy of Criminal Defense Attorneys, the National Organization of Veterans' Advocates and the State Bar of Arizona. He also serves on the board of directors for Academe Grove, reflecting his ongoing commitment to service and professional engagement.
