Kathleen A. McCarthy

The founder of McCarthy Family Law, Kathleen A. McCarthy, focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters. Based in Tucson, Arizona, and with clients throughout the southern part of the state, she has been certified as a specialist in family law by the State Bar of Arizona's Board of Legal Specialization, sits on the Board of Legal Specialization. Ms. McCarthy has been admitted to practice before all Arizona state courts since 1976.

A sizable portion of Ms. McCarthy's practice involves her assisting people whose marriages are coming to an end and who are thus having to deal with the division of complex community assets and debts, child custody and visitation, alimony, and child support. Many of her clients are business owners and have other assets that require an appraisal before being divided. A forceful courtroom advocate when litigation is necessary, Ms. McCarthy also helps clients come to an accord on some or all of these matters through negotiations and other alternative dispute resolution methods.

In addition to her matrimonial practice, Ms. McCarthy works with clients whose marriages have already been dissolved and who are now seeking the enforcement of or modifications to existing decrees, and support or parenting orders. Her family law experience also includes the preparation and review of prenuptial agreements, as well as helping domestic violence victims who are seeking protective orders from the court. Ms. McCarthy's successful track record has earned her the respect of her colleagues, who have awarded her a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo. In addition, she has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America since 1995. A frequent presenter on family law topics at continuing legal education seminars and a published author of legal articles, Ms. McCarthy is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
