Michael, a former prosecutor, graduated summa cum laude from University of Arizona College of Law in May 1993, where he served on the editorial board of the Arizona Law Review and was inducted into the Order of the Coif.
Recognized nationally for his work in white collar criminal defense, Michael is listed in 2016 US News and World Report "America's Best Law Firms" and Best Lawyers America®, 21st ed., and he is recognized by the National Trial Lawyers®as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer (2014). He was also honored with a fellowship at the Litigation Counsel of America® (2012).
Locally, he has also been listed in Arizona Superlawyers® as a top Tucson DUI lawyer and named by Tucson Lifestyle Magazine® as one of the Best Lawyers in Tucson (May 2015 & May 2016).

In those treatise chapters intended for other criminal defense and DUI lawyers, Michael addresses (1) technical legal issues related to police behavior during traffic stops; (2) the innovative use of expert witnesses in DUI jury trials; and (3) the hidden consequences of convictions .
Michael is regularly both asked to speak at attorney continuing legal education seminars and consulted by other attorneys in the area of professional and collateral consequences of criminal charges and convictions, particularly for licensed professionals and non-citizens.
