He has held many leadership roles in his legal and professional communities and is a founding member of the Nicaraguan Children’s Friendship Committee, and he also helped in the formation of Building Our Leaders of Tomorrow.

    Mr. Bornstein holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned his law degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Law. He is admitted to practice in California federal and state courts.

    Mr. Bornstein is active in several professional organizations, including The Bar Association of San Francisco, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.  He serves on various committees in these organizations and is a fellow of the America Bar Association Foundation. In 2010, he was named a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers.
