Attorney Profile

The founder of Shingler Law, Ron Shingler focuses his practice exclusively on the representation of people who have been exposed to asbestos and who have contracted mesothelioma, lung cancer or asbestosis as a result. Located in Walnut Creek, California, his clients come from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and other parts of the state. Admitted to practice before all California state courts, Mr. Shingler is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central and Eastern Districts of California.

Mr. Shingler's interest in this area of the law stems in large part from the fact that his father was diagnosed with asbestosis after working in an asbestos plant for many years. In addition to representing many of his father's co-workers, he has provided advice and counsel to painters, plasterers, sheet rockers, carpenters, auto mechanics, electricians, and people in many other occupations who have been harmed by their exposure to asbestos. He has also represented clients whose only exposure to asbestos was as a result of the dust on the clothing of their working family members. During his career, Mr. Shingler has been able to obtain millions of dollars in negotiated settlements for his clients, and most of his trials have been settled prior to verdict.

Mr. Shingler is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for Justice, the Sonoma County Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of California and the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers' Association. A 1980 recipient of a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Sacramento, he obtained his legal education at Golden Gate University School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1989.
