Attorney Profile

Based in Beverly Hills, California, Neville L. Johnson is a co-founder of Johnson & Johnson LLP. Representing individuals and companies throughout the area, he focuses his practice on entertainment, media, privacy and other complex business litigation. Mr. Johnson was co-lead counsel in Sanders v. American Broadcasting Companies, Inc., a seminal 1999 California decision that dramatically expanded the scope of a person's right to privacy. In that case, an ABC reporter, who had gone undercover and obtained employment at a telephone psychic advice company, surreptitiously videotaped conversations that another employee was having. The state's highest court ruled on appeal that an employee could have a reasonable expectation of privacy even though the conversation could be overheard by coworkers.

Mr. Johnson has significant litigation experience at both the trial and appellate levels. He has been counsel in more than 25 jury trials and several dozen bench trials, and he also has significant arbitration experience. He has been nominated for Trial Lawyer of the Year, an award given out annually by the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles. Mr. Johnson's successes have not gone unnoticed by his fellow attorneys, as evidenced by his receipt of an "Excellent" peer-review rating through Avvo. He has also been named one of Hollywood's Top 100 Attorneys, a list released annually by the Hollywood Reporter.

Admitted to practice in California, Mr. Johnson is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Eastern and Northern Districts of California, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 3rd and 9th Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of several legal organizations, including the American Association for Justice, the American Board of Trial Advocates and the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.
