Widely recognized as a leader in pension and other employee benefits law, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974, Alex M. Brucker is a co-founder of Brucker & Morra. Working out of the firm’s offices in Los Angeles, he represents clients throughout the greater metropolitan area and other parts of the state of California. Mr. Brucker has been admitted to practice before all California state courts since 1974.
Mr. Brucker majored in accounting at San Diego State University and received a Bachelor of Science in 1967. After he graduated, he was a senior tax accountant at a major international accounting firm before deciding to pursue a legal education. Mr. Brucker enrolled at Whittier Law School, and in 1974, he was awarded his Juris Doctor. He started his legal career at a national law firm based in Los Angeles, and his practice has been dedicated to employee benefits matters since that time.
Mr. Brucker’s clients include plan fiduciaries, attorneys, accountants, businesses and their owners, actuaries, securities professionals and investment advisers. His experience encompasses a variety of benefit plans, including 401(k)s, employee stock ownership plans, 403(b)s, trust funds that have been established by voluntary employees’ beneficiary associations, and welfare benefit funds governed by Section 419 of the Internal Revenue Code.
Other parts of Mr. Brucker’s practice include his input into the effect on employee benefits of mergers and acquisitions, and he has appeared as an expert witness in ERISA litigation. Mr. Brucker’s depth of knowledge in his practice area has earned him a great deal of acclaim from his colleagues, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell and an “Excellent” peer review rating through Avvo.
