  • California is a no-fault state, which means neither spouse is required to prove wrongdoing in order to proceed with a divorce filing. There’s no advantage as the petitioner; there’s no disadvantage as the respondent. What matters is if you have an attorney who can get you through the process, not in which order you go into the process. Holstrom, Block & Parke is capable, proficient, and very good at representing both petitioners and respondents in the legal process. We want to get the best result we can for the client in as short a time as we can., Does it matter who files for divorce first?, Divorce, Family Law, 2019
  • A divorce with children doesn’t necessarily lengthen the time the divorce takes. Everybody wants to make sure that it’s done right because it is often the primary issue for both parents. It’s not as if one parent is right and one parent is wrong. Each parent has his or her idea as to what is best for the children. “Having been a dad, having gone through a divorce with a custody issue too, I really understand how important that is,” says Partner and Senior Attorney Jim Parke. We at Holstrom, Block & Parke really do get this., How long does a divorce take with children?, Divorce, Family Law, 2019
