Attorney Profile

Kelly B. Hanker has been an attorney at Carpenter Zuckerman & Rowley since November 2018. A well-regarded civil trial lawyer, she represents clients throughout Los Angeles and Santa Barbara counties and other parts of Southern California from the firm’s offices in Beverly Hills. After graduation from Harvard-Westlake School in 1999, Ms. Hanker attended the University of Michigan, where she majored in art history and received a Bachelor of Arts in 2002. She then went on to pursue her legal education at the University of Iowa College of Law, and she served on the Journal of Corporation Law and participated in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition before obtaining her Juris Doctor in 2007.

Ms. Hanker divides her practice between personal injury and wrongful death litigation and employment law matters, and she has carried over her experience in these areas from her previous law firm tenures. In the former area, she has represented people who have been harmed as a result of the negligence of other parties in cases involving medical malpractice, truck and other motor vehicle crashes, premises liability, construction site and auto-pedestrian accidents, and animal attacks. Ms. Hanker has been able to obtain substantial compensation for her plaintiff clients through both negotiated settlements and jury awards.

Ms. Hanker’s employment law background has encompassed the representation of employees in cases involving discrimination that is prohibited by federal and state law. She has also handled cases involving overtime and other wage and hour disputes, as well as wrongful termination, and she has argued many of these matters before state and federal judges and juries. Ms. Hanker is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
