As the founder of Welebir | Tierney, Douglas F. Welebir handles personal injury cases for his clients in San Bernardino County, Riverside County and the greater Inland Empire area of California. His practice involves many types of cases, including motor vehicle accidents, animal attacks, workplace accidents and product defects.

Mr. Welebir earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law in 1965. Shortly after completing law school, he served as a legal research assistant to Justice John Kerrigan of the California 4th District Court of Appeal, Division 2. Mr. Welebir served as a deputy public defender for San Bernardino County in 1967, and in 1970, he concentrated his practice on helping clients in personal injury cases.

From 1970 to 1974, Mr. Welebir was the first mayor of the City of Loma Linda in San Bernardino County. He formed the predecessor firm to Welebir & Tierney in 1973 and has since successfully helped many clients in California obtain awards or settlements of more than $1 million. Serving as the lead plaintiff’s counsel in the Stringfellow acid pits trial, Mr. Welebir helped 4,300 plaintiffs eventually obtain a $110 million settlement.

Mr. Welebir is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia, as well as several federal courts. He has been honored by numerous publications, lists and rating services, including The Best Lawyers in America* and The National Trial Lawyers: Top 100 for Southern California. He was rated AV Preeminent** by Martindale-Hubbell. He has also led a number of classes and seminars at Loma Linda University and other local organizations.
