    Attorney Profile

Attorney Wylie A. Aitken is a founding partner with the Aitken Aitken Cohn law firm, which has law offices in Santa Ana, Riverside and San Clemente, California. Recognized nationally, regionally and locally as a top trial attorney, Mr. Aitken provides unmatched advocacy and support to a diverse range of clients throughout the state who have legal needs involving any of the following:

    ·       Catastrophic personal injury

    ·       Insurance bad faith

    ·       Mass tort litigation

    ·       Complex business litigation

Over the course of his more than 54 years in practice, Mr. Aitken has achieved significant success helping his plaintiff clients obtain the favorable outcomes they expect and deserve for their serious and pressing legal challenges. Among his most notable successes, he helped secure a verdict exceeding $54 million against the federal government for the victim of a car accident caused by a federal employee. This verdict stands as one of the largest ever awarded against the government for this type of claim.

In addition, he has obtained several multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements for victims of car accidents, medical malpractice, insurance bad faith claims following catastrophic property damage, animal attacks and other horrendous tragedies. He also served as counsel in a landmark wrongful death case against a major theme park on behalf of a 34-year-old man who was killed and whose wife was permanently disfigured, in a ride accident. The high-profile case helped implement positive changes to the law regarding theme park safety.

Honored for his outstanding professionalism and service, Mr. Aitken has earned numerous awards and honors from his peers, including consistent designation from The Best Lawyers in America and a Top 100 Trial Lawyers ranking from the National Trial Lawyers. Most recently, he received the Hispanic National Bar Association's Lifetime Achievement Award and the Legends of the Law Award from the Orange County Bar Association's Masters Division. These are but a few of his many accolades he has received in addition to numerous testimonials and referrals from his satisfied clients.

After completing his undergraduate studies at Santa Ana College and California State University at Fullerton, Mr. Aitken attended Marquette University Law School as a Saint Thomas More Scholar, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 1965 and served as associate of the Marquette Law Review. He has maintained active involvement with various local, state and national legal organizations throughout his career, and he once served as president of the American Board of Trial Advocates Foundation, the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association and the Consumer Attorneys of California.

Mr. Aitken is also a member of the board of the California Arts Council, the Cal State Fullerton Philanthropic Foundation and the Kathleen E. Faley Memorial CSUF Special Games. He holds membership in the Mission San Juan Capistrano Preservation and is co-founder of The Celtic Bar Association of Orange County.
