    Attorney Profile

Attorney Alan Gurvey is the managing partner at the Law Firm of Rowen, Gurvey & Win, A Professional Corporation. Since joining the Sherman Oaks firm in 1992, Mr. Gurvey has focused his practice on representing injured workers from throughout Southern California, including the cities of Los Angeles, Van Nuys, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Long Beach and Thousand Oaks. With his assistance, more than 1,000 Californians who sustained on-the-job injuries have successfully obtained the workers' compensation benefits they needed to allow them to remain financially secure while recovering from their injuries.

Mr. Gurvey began his legal career in the United States in 1991, after earning his law degree from Robson Hall Faculty of Law, University of Manitoba and his admission to The State Bar of California. In addition to his admission, the California Board of Legal Specialization recognizes him as a board-certified workers' compensation attorney.

Over the course of Mr. Gurvey's 25-year legal career, he has earned a reputation as one of the state's leading workers' compensation lawyers.  In June 2017, the Court of Appeal issued a published decision in Maureen Hikida vs. Costco Wholesale, which provides the basis for unapportioned permanent disability awards after failed medical treatment.  Mr. Gurvey has spoken at a number of venues throughout the state on this case.  He also has an "Excellent" rating from Avvo and the Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group named him one of the country's top injured workers' attorneys. In addition, he received the Comp Laude Award for Applicant Attorney of the Year from WorkCompCentral in 2014. In 2016, he was honored with the Harold Wax Outstanding Merit Award by the California Applicants' Attorneys Association.

Mr. Gurvey is an active member of the legal community and his local community. He is a member of the Brown Club of Southern California's advisory council, and he is an honorary member of the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers' Charities Board of Governors. He is co-chair of the Education Committee of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association. He is also host of Gurvey's Law, a leading legal radio program on KABC in Los Angeles.
