After graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, Mr. Pine earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1975 from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall). During law school, Mr. Pine participated in the moot court advisory program, and he served as the Note and Comments editor for the California Law Review.

With more than 26 years' experience handling civil appeals, Mr. Pine has achieved positive resolutions in a wide range of legal areas. His notable successes include obtaining, through an appeal, a combined fee award of approximately $34.7 million for the trial lawyers who prosecuted a civil rights case against a major financial institution; and defending a $30 million personal injury judgment, a $16 million fraud judgment, a $10 million age discrimination judgment, and multiple other seven-figure judgments. 

Mr. Pine is a certified appellate law specialist through The State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.
