Since 1989, Mr. Nicolaysen has concentrated his practice in federal civil and criminal litigation, including white collar defense.  Mr. Nicolaysen's background in federal civil litigation includes serving as the Assistant Regional Director in the Los Angeles office of the Federal Trade Commission in 1988-89.

Mr. Nicolaysen's credentials include being certified as a specialist in criminal law by the State Bar of California since 1997 and being rated as AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell* for his outstanding reputation among his legal peers and for his high ethical standards and professional ability. Mr. Nicolaysen is also the founder of the Association Of Federal Defense Attorneys (AFDA), an online legal community that provides online education and resources for attorneys nationwide, located online at www.afda.org.

Mr. Nicolaysen's criminal practice focuses on the representation of individuals and business entities in federal criminal prosecutions, federal agency investigations, and grand jury proceedings; providing compliance counseling in regard to federal agency regulations, and conducting internal corporate investigations. He has represented over 600 clients in federal criminal matters and has substantial criminal trial experience.

In the health care field, Mr. Nicolaysen develops compliance programs for home health agencies and other providers, serves as a compliance monitor for agencies, and interfaces with government entities conducting audits and investigations.
