Joel H. Siegal Siegal has dedicated over 35 years to representing individuals who face powerful adversaries such as large corporations, insurance companies and government entities. From his early days, the influence of his father, an organizer and president of the Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ Union in New York City, instilled in him the importance of a meaningful quality of life. Today, as a personal injury lawyer at Siegal & Richardson, LLP, in Oakland, California, Mr. Siegal continues this legacy, representing his clients in matters of motor vehicle accidents, wrongful death, premises liability, birth injury and brain injury.
With a robust combination of experience, intellect, determination, resources and a deep-seated desire to advocate for those in need, Mr. Siegal has become a steadfast champion for justice across many of California's counties. His lifelong commitment to public service is fueled by a genuine passion for helping others and ensuring fair treatment under the law.
One of Mr. Siegel’s earliest cases, Liu vs. Republic of China, a wrongful death lawsuit, reached the U.S. Supreme Court. He also represented several families in a high-profile case involving sexual assault at the Presidio Army Base Day Care Center. These experiences not only honed his legal skills but also allowed him to collaborate with some of Northern California's most renowned lawyers.
Mr. Siegel’s exemplary work has earned him numerous accolades, including membership in the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He is a member of the Distinguished Justice Advocates, representing the top 1% of attorneys in America. Additionally, the American Institute of Personal Injury Attorneys listed him among the 10 Best in 2015.
Holding a Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law, San Diego (1982), Mr. Siegel completed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and the State University of New York at Albany. He has been a proud member of the California Bar Association since 1982, continually advocating for the rights and dignity of his clients. He has also received a “Superb” rating on Avvo.
