Admitted to practice in California in 2000, Douglas L. Johnson concentrates his practice in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The managing partner of the Beverly Hills firm, Johnson & Johnson, LLP, in California, he covers all aspects of lawsuits and queries involving:

  • Entertainment law
  • Complex business litigation
  • Intellectual property
  • First Amendment Law
  • Rights of privacy and publicity
  • Class action litigation

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree with an inclusion to the dean’s list in 1996 from the University of Southern California, Mr. Johnson pursued his education in law. He attended the University of the Pacific – McGeorge School of Law to obtain his Juris Doctor in 2000. Stepping into the professional arena straight after graduation, he worked for a private boutique firm concentrated on defense trial litigation.

After a year, Mr. Johnson shifted his attention to entertainment law, advocating for celebrities, music professionals, models, athletes and other talents in matters that concern their business and privacy. Successfully settling a broad range of cases, he is approached by high-profile clients for resolution to issues related to publicity, invasion of privacy, libel, idea theft, and disputes of royalty and profit sharing.

At Johnson & Johnson, LLP, Mr. Johnson has been instrumental in developing the right of publicity laws in the state. Among his numerous successes, one of his recent wins was for a high-profile client who was granted a $9.6 million verdict for the violation of his Right of Publicity.

In addition to leading a firm, Mr. Johnson also serves as a general counsel for a popular music website, where he manages copyright and right of privacy; and appears before federal courts for cases of copyright infringement.
