Admitted to practice in California in 2000, Douglas L. Johnson concentrates his practice in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. As the Managing Partner of the Beverly Hills firm, Johnson & Johnson, LLP, in California, he covers all aspects of lawsuits and queries involving:

  • Entertainment law
  • Copyright Litigation
  • Complex business litigation
  • Intellectual property
  • First Amendment Law
  • Rights of privacy and publicity
  • Class action litigation

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1996 from the University of Southern California (dean's list 1993-1996), Mr. Johnson pursued his education in law. He attended the University of the Pacific – McGeorge School of Law to obtain his Juris Doctor in 2000. Stepping into the professional arena straight after graduation, he worked for a mid-sized firm that concentrated on defense trial litigation.

After several years, Mr. Johnson shifted his attention to entertainment law, advocating for celebrities, movie and TV professionals, businesses, and talent in the music industry, as well as models and athletes in matters concerning their business and intellectual property. Successfully settling a broad range of cases, he is approached by high-profile clients to resolve issues related to copyright, image rights, invasion of privacy, libel, idea theft, and disputes over royalty and profit sharing.

At Johnson & Johnson, LLP, Mr. Johnson has been instrumental in developing the right of publicity laws in the state. Among his numerous successes, one of his recent wins was for a high-profile client who was awarded a $9.6 million verdict for violating their right of publicity against two large public companies.

In addition to leading a firm, Mr. Johnson also serves as general counsel for a popular music website, where he manages copyright and privacy rights, and appears before federal courts in cases of copyright infringement. He has also published several articles on relevant topics related to his field of practice in prominent journals.
