James W. Lewis

As an attorney at Slater, Slater, Schulman, LLP in Los Angeles, James W. Lewis provides dedicated legal representation to clients throughout the entire State of California, including Los Angeles County, Riverside County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, Monterey County, Fresno County, Santa Clara County, Sacramento County, Imperial County, and San Francisco County.  Mr. Lewis is a civil trial lawyer with over twenty years of experience who currently represents only individuals that have been harmed by the intentional or careless acts of others.  Mr. Lewis' current focus is largely on representing survivors of childhood sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse and adult sexual assault in civil lawsuits.  Mr. Lewis has represented survivors of sexual assault in civil lawsuits for almost a decade.  One of his primary areas of expertise is representing victims of childhood sexual assault in cases against public schools and private schools.  Mr. Lewis is currently representing dozens of survivors of childhood sexual assault in their civil claims against the perpetrators that assaulted them and the institutions that employed them.

Mr. Lewis continues to represent individuals who have experienced significant trauma as a result of motor vehicle accidents, brain injuries, burn injuries, amputations, premises liability, product liability and wrongful death.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University, Mr. Lewis graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law.

Mr. Lewis understands the devastating impact that injuries can have on victims and their families, and he is sensitive to their situations.  He has obtained a number of multi-million dollar settlements and verdicts for his clients, including a $5.42 million verdict for a woman who was sexually assaulted by a staff member at a West Hollywood nightclub and a $6.15 million dollar settlement for a victim of adult sexual assault by a law enforcement officer while on duty. Mr. Lewis has an Avvo "Superb" rating of "10 out of 10."

Staying active in the community is a priority for Mr. Lewis. He is a past president of a bar association in Los Angeles County.  Mr. Lewis also volunteers with a nonprofit hospital foundation, providing pro bono legal counsel and serving as the foundation's vice chair.
