Michael N. Cohen

Michael N. Cohen is an intellectual property litigator, registered patent attorney, and founder and principal of Cohen IP Law Group, P.C., an intellectual property law firm based in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Cohen focuses his practice exclusively on intellectual property law, representing clients in patent, trademark, copyright, and other complex IP disputes, as well as patent and trademark prosecution, TTAB proceedings, licensing, and strategic IP counseling. He represents entrepreneurs, startups, emerging companies, and established businesses in protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights.

He is also admitted before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Northern, Eastern, and Southern Districts of California. He earned his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law.

Throughout his career, Mr. Cohen has represented clients ranging from individual inventors and creators to growing technology companies and established corporations. His work encompasses complex intellectual property litigation as well as the development and enforcement of patent and trademark portfolios, including matters resulting in significant judgments and multimillion-dollar recoveries.

Notably, Mr. Cohen served as lead counsel in Batra v. PopSugar Inc., securing a $2 million settlement on behalf of a social media influencer and class members. The high-profile class action lawsuit alleged copyright infringement, intentional interference with contractual relations and unfair competition claims against PopSugar. This substantial outcome highlighted his ability to hold prominent digital media platforms accountable while protecting intellectual property rights for modern content creators.
