Details

As a partner of Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP, Frank M. Pitre has been handling high-profile personal injury/wrongful death cases and commercial torts in California since 1981. He is especially dedicated to serving on several plaintiff steering committees and plaintiff liaison counsels in order to secure settlements and strengthen safety regulations following commercial incidents.

Some of Mr. Pitre’s most notable litigation successes to date include a wrongful death conviction on behalf of the widow and the three children of a U.S. naval officer who was killed in a bike collision with a van. Likewise, Mr. Pitre was the co-lead counsel in a class action suit that ended with a large pharmaceutical company paying almost $900 million to settle regarding injuries resulting from its painkillers. He has also filed pending class action suits against an automobile company over safety-related defects and against an airline following a crash. These successes have led to his perfect 10.0 Avvo score of "Superb" and to the AV Preeminent* distinction given to Mr. Pitre by his peers.

Following his graduation from the University of San Francisco School of Law, Mr. Pitre became admitted to practice in the state of California as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is the author of several notable scholarly articles articulating proper civil litigation and California tort practices. This includes his authorship of the “California Personal Injury Proof.” Mr. Pitre has served as part of the San Francisco Trial Advocacy Program and the Hastings College of Advocacy faculties, and he is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a former president of the Consumer Attorneys of California.
