- The unique issues presented in a high earner support case evolve from the fact that you have a parent who makes, under the working terms of the law, extraordinarily high amounts of money. What the court then looks at is, what is the level of support that is reasonable, necessary, and appropriate for the child given the income and station in life of both parents? Child support is going to be significantly higher than another child that may live next door, because one of the parents, or more, has a significantly high station in life and a significantly high income that goes with that. That's where it really requires some unique training and some unique experience to be able to know the law and know how to apply the law. That’s what the attorneys at Holstrom, Block & Parke have., What are the unique issues presented in a high earner support case?, Family Law, Divorce, High-Asset Divorce, High-Earner Child Support, 2019
- The complexities of a high asset marital dissolution action arise from the fact that it rarely is a large asset or a large bank account where you can simply say, well, under California law, this is community property, let's just divide it. It is never that simple. For instance, consider assets that were started before marriage and then worked for many, many years after marriage. The law says that the community may have a claim to the ownership of some of those assets. Also consider different forms of businesses. There are LLCs, C corporations, S corporations, and all of these different entities that may, in turn, own other entities or pieces of property. Understanding how all of these things work, and understanding the complex issues about what constitutes a fair division of a high asset case, is where we excel. We have handled many cases on both sides, whether you are the spouse that is in the business every day, or the spouse that supported him or her. The attorneys at Holstrom, Block & Parke have six Certified Family Law Specialists with over 200 years of combined experience who are well-trained to litigate and to settle high asset cases., What are the unique issues presented in a high asset case?, Family Law, Divorce, High-Asset Divorce, 2019
