Details

A partner at Murphy & Evertz since January 2013, Emily L. Madueno focuses her practice largely on eminent domain matters. From the firm's office in Costa Mesa, California, she provides representation to both landowners and government agencies throughout Orange County and other parts of the state in condemnations and partial and full takings. In one case, she represented the owner of a citrus and avocado grove in a partial taking action involving the California Department of Transportation. Ms. Madueno was able to obtain a settlement that was approximately four times the agency's original offer. In another, she obtained a pretrial settlement for the owner of a commercial parcel that was nearly double the amount that had been offered by the Riverside County Transportation Commission.

In addition to eminent domain, Ms. Madueno provides advice and counsel on environmental disputes and other land use litigation matters. Her clients have included the San Gabriel Valley Water Company and Riverside County. She is frequently asked to deliver presentations on topics related to her practice areas to groups such as the International Right of Way Association.

In 2004, Ms. Madueno received a Bachelor of Arts in political science summa cum laude from California State University, Northridge. She went on to attend Loyola Law School and obtained her Juris Doctor cum laude in 2007. While in law school, Ms. Madueno served on the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and clerked for the Los Angeles office of an international law firm. She joined her current firm in 2010 as an associate. Admitted to practice in California, Ms. Madueno is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Central Districts of California.
