Brian P. Pakpour serves as the managing partner of Pakpour Banks LLP in Davis, California, a firm he established in 2013 to guide families through life’s most challenging transitions and to ensure that every client’s voice is heard. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of family law such as divorce, child custody and support, spousal support, property division, adoption, domestic violence matters and termination of parental rights while also extending into probate and estate planning.
A native of the Greater Philadelphia region, Mr. Pakpour pursued his undergraduate studies at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism, and then obtained a Master of Arts in philosophy from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He spent a decade as a journalist before turning his focus to the law. Enrolling at Santa Clara University School of Law, he graduated with a Juris Doctor in 2012. During his time on the Santa Clara Law Review, he also received both the Pro Bono Law Certificate and the Public Interest Law Certificate, honors that recognize his dedication to serving underserved communities.
From the outset of his legal career, Mr. Pakpour was determined to forge a more compassionate path in family law, one that seeks to heal rather than harm. He launched Pakpour Banks LLP immediately upon passing The State Bar of California, committed to helping clients emerge from family court with their dignity intact and healthy relationships preserved whenever possible.
Mr. Pakpour remains actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section, The State Bar of California, the Yolo County Bar Association and the Sacramento County Bar Association. In 2014, he co-founded the Empower Yolo Family Law Clinic, a pro bono initiative that provides free legal assistance to victims of domestic violence. He continues to offer pro bono representation to qualifying survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. In recognition of his leadership and service, his peers elected him President of the Yolo County Bar Association in 2015, a position he held for two years.
