Details

Richard M. Renkin, Esq., CFLS, the founder of the Law Office of Renkin & Associates, focuses his practice exclusively on family law matters. With offices in Encinitas and San Diego, he is a specialist in family law certified by the Board of Legal Specialization of The State Bar of California. Highly regarded by his fellow attorneys and judges, Mr. Renkin has received an AV Preeminent* Judicial Edition rating through Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 "Superb" peer review rating through Avvo.

A large part of Mr. Renkin's practice involves the representation of business owners, professionals, and other high net worth clients throughout San Diego County whose marriages are coming to an end and who are grappling with such divorce-related issues as the division of complex assets and debts, child custody and visitation, and spousal and child support. While he is a forceful courtroom advocate, he often helps his clients seek resolutions to some of these matters through mediation and negotiations. Another sensitive family law issue includes assisting victims of domestic violence who are petitioning the court for protective orders. He also handles cases involving fathers' and grandparents' rights, domestic partnerships, international child abductions, and annulments.  He regularly prepares and reviews pre-marital and post-marital agreements.

Majoring in political science, Mr. Renkin attended the State University of New York at Oswego and received a Bachelor of Science in 1981. His legal education came at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, which awarded him his Juris Doctor in 1987. Mr. Renkin formed his firm in 1991.  He is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California. He is a member and past president of the San Diego County Family Law Bar Association.
