Sally Vecchiarelli is the founder and owner of Proper Defense Law Corporation, a powerhouse criminal and juvenile defense firm serving clients across California, with offices in Fresno and Beverly Hills. She has built her entire career exclusively in criminal and juvenile defense, taking on cases ranging from misdemeanor DUIs to high-stakes gang homicide prosecutions. Sally also assists with post conviction relief, for immigration or employment purposes drafting and winning motions to vacate, expungements, reductions to misdemeanors, and Governor pardons.

Raised in a household of criminal defense lawyers, Sally developed an early commitment to protecting constitutional rights. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminology and forensic behavioral science, graduating Magna Cum Laude from California State University, Fresno. While at Fresno State, she served two years as a voting member of the Board of the California State University of Fresno Programs for Children, an experience that deepened her dedication to youth and community service.

Sally gained nearly five years of experience at a well‑respected local criminal law firm before founding Proper Defense Law Corporation in 2018. She launched her practice to give clients the representation they desired, client‑centered representation, with unfettered communication with the attorney the client hires. She focuses on rehabilitation and counseling her clients to get the best possible result and hopefully to help the person in the process so that they never reoffend.

Committed to professional development, Sally regularly attends seminars to refine trial techniques and remain current on case law relevant to motions and appellate practice. In California, an appointed attorney in a juvenile case must maintain a yearly 12 hours of training in juvenile law, while Sally is only privately retained, she meets and exceeds this requirement every year.

Sally supports the law students at San Joaquin College of Law by providing a Bar Study Support scholarship to a graduating student. In law school she served as editor-in-chief of the San Joaquin Agricultural Law Review and earned recognition as a Best brief finalist and best oral advocate finalist in moot court competitions. She represented her school in the Roger J. Traynor Appellate Moot Court and received the CEB Outstanding Individual Oral Achievement award.

Sally's academic honors include multiple Witkin Awards for Academic Excellence, scholarships and graduating with distinction. She is engaged in community and professional organizations, including: Fresno County Women Lawyers; Leadership Fresno; Fresno County Bar Association; Beverly Hills Bar Association; National College for DUI Defense (with certification in DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests); California Youth Defender Center; and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
