James I. Ham

Jim Ham handles California State Bar investigations, discipline trials, fee disputes and other lawyer regulatory issues. He acts as outside ethics counsel to law firms and lawyers, and serves as an expert consultant and witness. Areas include State Bar complaints, litigation, attorney fee disputes, legal ethics and risk management, law office management, conflicts of interest, disqualification, practice in California by non-admitted lawyers, partnership disputes, fee splitting, and the acquisition and departure of lawyers.  Member, Special Commission for the Revision of the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State of California (2015-2017).  Lecturer, Gould School of Law, University of Southern California (2008-2014). Board Member, Friends of the Los Angeles County Law Library (2016-2022); Member, Board of Trustees, Los Angeles County Bar Association (2009-2010) and Chair, Los Angeles County Bar Association Professional Responsibility and Ethics Committee (2009-2010).  Member, Board of Trustees, California Indian Legal Services (2008-2015).  Member, Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers; Association of Discipline Defense Counsel; American Bar Association; and Los Angeles County Bar Association. Named a SuperLawyer for 19 consecutive years. Named a Los Angeles Daily Journal Top Professional Responsibility Lawyer 2024.
