• A motorist in Phoenix, Arizona failed to yield and made a negligent left turn causing damages requiring multiple ankle surgeries. The case was disputed from the start. I first faced in-house counsel and then three separate defense firms in conservative Maricopa County. In December 2019, the case was settled at mediation for a confidential, excess policy limits, seven-figure amount., 2019
• $100,000.00 third-party policy limits settlement. Car collision. Back surgery recommendation, 2019
• $500,000.00 Uninsured Motorist recovery Car collision. The Traffic Collision Report placed client at fault for unsafe speed causing client to collide into the DUI, disabled, blacked-out vehicle. Client underwent operative fixation of left acetabular fracture (hip), 2019
• Case #56-2017-00499818-CU-PT-VTA Recovered $200,000.00 for client on a Third-Party $100,000.00 policy limit as I "opened" the policy limits. Minor 12 year-old client on a skateboard was in crosswalk and hit by an automobile. Client sustained closed comminuted displaced mid shaft right femur fracture and underwent right femur integrate lateral entry nail, 2017
• Obtained $500,000.00 total settlement for husband and wife injured in car accident. (2016 & 2017 Settlements; 11/02/2015 Date of Loss), 2017
• $100,000.00 settlement (all applicable insurance policy limits) for a client who was attacked by an Akita dog and bit twice on the arm while appraising a house. (2017 Settlement; 11/14/2015 Date of Loss), 2017
• Obtained $237,500.00 Underinsured Motorist settlement from rideshare company for client who injured his back in auto accident and underwent steroid epidural injections. (2017 Settlement; 7/26/2015 Date of Loss), 2017
• Case #CIPDS1600155, Uninsured defendant driving drunk and hit clients (Grandparents and 2-year-old Grandson) head-on. Defendant died on the scene. 2-year-old was airlifted and sustained right superior orbital wall fracture and traumatic brain injury. (Court approved 2016; Date of Loss 3/12/2015), 2016
• 3-year-old boy run over and killed (Los Angeles, CA) $100,000.00 settlement (limits of the applicable insurance policies) Client was boy's mother. Boy was not properly supervised at an Easter celebration at the mother's friend's house and he found his way into the street. The boy was pronounced dead at the hospital. (2016 Settlement; 4/5/2015 Date of Loss)., 2016
• $365,000.00 total settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies). Three separate defense law firms were involved with the defense. Bicyclist client sustained catastrophic injuries; femur and tibia fractures and surgeries; dislocated shoulder. Traffic Collision Report and witness put client at fault. Settlement included homeowners insurance policy and automobile policy from defendant driver Nanny / Housekeeper's employers (Law School Dean and Doctor) even though Nanny / Housekeeper was not in the course and scope of employment at the time but merely because Nanny / Housekeeper had used personal vehicle to pick-up their children from school a time or two. Multiple other law firms had rejected the case prior to our representation. (2016 Settlement; Date of Loss 5/1/2015), 2016
• $500,000.00 settlement (limits of applicable insurance policies) Boyfriend and girlfriend injured by negligent driver who ran a red light in Sacramento County, CA. Moderate automobile collision. However, accident necessitated our female client undergo lumbar surgery at 20-years-of-age. (2016 Settlement; 8/2/2014 Date of Loss), 2016
• Mediated $250,000.00 settlement against Indian Tribe. Indian Tribe representative supervising archaeological dig struck and injured archaeologist with his truck. Catastrophic injury to humerus / arm / wrist / hand. Indian Tribe had sovereign immunity and therefore legally did not have to pay any money. Multiple other law firms had rejected case. (2017 Settlement; 12/11/2014 Date of Loss), 2016
• $200,000.00 combined settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies). In Malibu, a driver made a negligent u-turn into husband and wife recreational motorcyclists. The husband and wife were ejected from their motorcycle. Their injuries required they be transported via helicopter for emergency trauma treatment., 2015
• $100,000.00 settlement (limits of the applicable insurance policies) Fatal collision between motorcyclist and automobile occurred in Long Beach, California. The automobile driver failed to yield for the motorcyclist and made a negligent left turn. The Traffic Collision Report puts decedent motorcyclist at fault for running the red light. We retained an accident reconstruction expert who concluded that the motorcyclist was not speeding, entered the intersection on a yellow light, and was lane splitting. Lane splitting is legal in the state of California. Sadly the motorcyclist was projected into a traffic light pole, and within 2 hours was pronounced dead in the hospital. The decedent had served our country in the military., 2015
• $500,000.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies) 71 year-old walking in her neighborhood hit by driver in Murrieta. Driver blind out of left eye, and as a result of the collision, a DMV re-examination notice was sent to the driver. Pedestrian sustained brain injury when she was thrown from vehicle onto the roadway. Among other injuries, client sustained 2 focal motor seizures, traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage, humeral neck fracture, intraventricular hemorrhage, two 2.5 cm lacerations to the back of the head requiring staples, and bilateral hearing loss. Client underwent open treatment of right proximal humeral fracture with dislocation of the glenohumeral joint, 2015
• Case #STK-PR-MC-2016-0000416 $25,000.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies). 3 1/2-year-old girl was playing with her cousin on the driveway in the front yard of her cousin's house when her aunt pulled into the driveway at a high rate of speed and ran her over. She sustained serious injuries, including a concussion and grade 1 lacerations of the medial posterior right liver lobe. Miraculously she survived, 2014
• $250,000.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies) Pedestrian client was in a crosswalk in Lake Tahoe, California when he was struck by a negligent driver. Client sustained a displaced left femoral neck fracture, which required an emergency total hip replacement surgery, 2014
• $1,000,000.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies), Negligent Taxi Cab driver cut across motorcyclist client's path of travel in Costa Mesa, California. 20-year-old client rendered quadriplegic, 2014
• $994,265.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies, after deducting property damage settlement), plus $10,000.00 Medical Payments coverage insurance policy limits. Client driver struck from behind in Ventura, California by a negligent driver. The impact aggravated prior 2009 back surgery, and client had to undergo reparative back surgery. Multiple other law firms had rejected the case prior to our representation. (2013 Settlement; 11/06/2013 Date of Loss)., 2013
• Case #CIPDS 1400054 $100,000.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies) Attorney was driving drunk and hit pedestrian, and then fled the scene. The incident occurred in Phoenix, Arizona. Pedestrian was transient and on drug. Clients were her three surviving minor children. Settlement was judicially approved in San Bernardino County Superior Court - State of California, 2013
• $250,000.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies) Client was rear-ended by negligent driver in Westminster, California. Client underwent shoulder surgery and lumbar epidural steroid injections, 2012
• Wrongful death: $1,500,000.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies). Comparative negligence / disputed liability. Pedestrian client struck by negligent driver in Sacramento, California. Client sustained traumatic brain injury and died 8 months later, 2012
• $989,550.00 settlement (limits of all applicable insurance policies, after deducting property damage settlement) Disputed liability. Clients were rear-ended by a Freightliner in Rancho Mirage, California., 2011
