After graduating with his political science and government undergraduate degree in 1999, with departmental honors from the University of California San Diego, he completed his Juris Doctor cum laude at the University of Minnesota Law School in 2002. He served as the editor-in-chief of the Minnesota Law Review during his tenure in law school.
