Cara Van Dorn

Cara Van Dorn is an Associate in the La Jolla, California office of Sanford Heisler Sharp McKnight, LLP. Highly knowledgeable in employment law, Ms. Van Dorn represents individuals in the areas of employment discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, and wrongful termination.

She was a key member of the four-attorney team that represented 22 victims of the now-famous deceptive and abusive pornography scheme GirlsDoPorn, which ended with a judgment of over $20 million and permanent injunctions prohibiting the company's deceptive and unlawful practices. Alongside the same team of attorneys, Cara represented 50+ GirlsDoPorn victims in a related, trail-blazing case against MindGeek, the company that owns and operates behemoth pornography website Pornhub.com.

Licensed in California since 2018, Ms. Van Dorn graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature from the University of North Carolina in 2008. She obtained her Juris Doctor cum laude from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 2017, where she was a recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award and offered pro bono services at the Elder Law Clinic. 

Soon after law school, Ms. Van Dorn interned as a summer law clerk for the North Carolina Attorney General and worked at several other South and North Carolina law firms, gaining significant experience in tobacco, asbestos, securities and burn pit litigation. 

Ms. Van Dorn has contributed two articles to the Wake Forest Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law.
