Zach is a member of the firm’s class action litigation team, which has successfully represented consumers, employees and small businesses in claims alleging violations of usury, the Truth in Lending Act, the California Invasion of Privacy Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the California Unfair Business Practices Act, the California Labor Code, and other statutes and regulations.
Zach is one of the few attorneys in the nation who has tried multiple certified class actions to judgment. In 2015, Zach testified in the California State Capitol regarding Californians’ privacy rights. Zach has been nominated a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers, and has been lead or co-lead counsel in verdicts and settlements well in excess of $100 million.
Zach began his career as an Associate in the Global Real Estate Group of Lehman Brothers in New York City. After Zach left Lehman Brothers, he returned to California, and served as a prosecutor in the office of the San Diego District Attorney. While at the San Diego District Attorney, Zach prosecuted cases involving homicide, rape, drug-related offenses and other crimes, first-chairing both bench and jury trials.
During his post-graduate studies, Zach worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington D.C., where he served in the Division of Enforcement; as a Judicial Extern to The Honorable Dickran Tevrizian, Senior Trial Judge in the United States District Court, Central District of California; as a summer associate at Woolf Simmonds in London, England; and as a summer associate at Morgan Stanley in New York City.
Zach received his J.D./M.B.A. from the Pepperdine University School of Law and the Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management, and his B.S. in Economics, with a concentration in finance, from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Zach served as Managing Editor of the Pepperdine Law Review, and was a member of the Moot Court Board and the Honors Appellate Advocacy team, where he won Silver Medal in the Wagner National Labor & Employment Moot Court Competition. Zach’s Comment, titled “Selective Disclosure: The Abrogation of the Attorney-Client Privilege and the Work Product Doctrine,” appeared at 33 Pepp. L. Rev. 723.
Zach has successfully completed the Certified Public Accountant exam and the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Series 7 and Series 63 exams.
Zach was a National All-American lacrosse player, played collegiate lacrosse at Cal Poly, and authored a book entitled “Likewise in Life: Life Lessons From the Playing Field,” which was donated to charities throughout the world. Zach enjoys giving back to the lacrosse community and United States military veterans.
