Sam McGovern

Sam McGovern is the managing attorney at McGovern Law Group, APC, located in La Mesa, California, where he brings a unique background and skill set to his legal practice. He focuses much of his practice on estate planning, where he helps families protect their legacies, safeguard their assets and provide for future generations. He is passionate about working with clients to create thoughtful, customized plans that bring peace of mind and ensure that loved ones are cared for.

Born and raised in San Diego, California, Mr. McGovern earned his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from California Western School of Law, graduating in the top 2% of his class. He is licensed to practice law in both California and Washington, D.C.

Before becoming an attorney, Mr. McGovern served as a police officer, an experience that gave him invaluable insight into problem-solving and conflict resolution. That foundation continues to inform his work today, allowing him to approach client matters with both empathy and practical understanding. He knows how overwhelming legal issues can feel, and he takes pride in guiding individuals and families through uncertainty with clarity and confidence.

In addition to estate planning, Mr. McGovern has experience in litigation involving personal injury, family law and criminal defense.
