Gail R. Cohen

Gail R. Cohen is the founder and managing director of Cohen Family Law Group, APC, where she focuses exclusively on family law. A Certified Family Law Specialist with more than 35 years of experience, Ms. Cohen represents moderate and high-net individuals, business owners, executives, professional and public-facing clients in complex divorce and family law matters. She also provides a wealth of experience in complex custody matters including cases involving domestic and foreign move-away requests. Finally, she acts as a mediator for couples wishing to resolve their issues collaboratively. 

Ms. Cohen's practice includes high-asset divorce, complex property division, business and real estate valuation issues, spousal and child support, custody and move-away matters, legal separation, paternity, annulments, post-judgment modifications, and the negotiation, drafting, and enforcement of prenuptial, postnuptial, and marital settlement agreements.

Drawing on her background, Ms. Cohen brings a sophisticated perspective to high-conflict custody matters and complex marital estates involving real property, investment portfolios, executive compensation including compensation by business owners, entertainment personalities and athletes, tracing, valuation disputes, support, and property division. She is known for her strategic, pragmatic, and discreet approach, combining high-level settlement negotiation with decisive litigation strategy when necessary.

Ms. Cohen is licensed to practice before all courts of the State of California, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers, the Los Angeles Superior Court and the Daily Journal. She is a member of the Association for Certified Family Law Specialists, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and the San Fernando Valley Bar Association. She is also actively involved in her Temple and various charities. 

 Ms. Cohen’s experience and commitment have earned her numerous honors, including the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services in Family Law, the Outstanding Volunteer Award from the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Family Law Section and the Los Angeles Superior Court, and multiple certificates of appreciation from the Superior Court for her service as a judge pro tem. She has also been recognized by the City of Los Angeles for her contributions to the community and by the Encino Little League for her support.
