Genie Harrison

Trial attorney Genie Harrison is one of California’s most recognized plaintiff-side employment lawyers. For more than 30 years, she has represented employees in employment and civil rights litigation involving workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, equal pay, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, whistleblower retaliation, and sexual abuse.

Ms. Harrison represents employees and survivors exclusively. By limiting her practice to plaintiff-side employment law and survivor rights, she has built a career handling high-stakes cases against some of California’s largest employers and abusers while remaining deeply committed to the individuals whose livelihoods, careers, and futures are at stake.

She has built a reputation for taking on challenging, high-profile cases that present significant legal issues while creating opportunities for broader workplace and societal change.

Ms. Harrison has helped secure hundreds of millions in verdicts and settlements on behalf of employees, including numerous seven- and eight-figure recoveries and other landmark employment law results. Among the most notable are the $100 million equal pay settlement on behalf of women at Riot Games—one of the largest gender discrimination settlements in the video game industry—and her representation of survivors in high-profile litigation involving former film producer Harvey Weinstein. While she is widely known for obtaining significant verdicts and settlements, many of the cases she considers most rewarding are those that help clients preserve their careers, restore their professional reputations, and move forward with their lives.

In 2022, the Consumer Attorneys of California honored Ms. Harrison as Consumer Attorney of the Year for her work representing survivors in the Harvey Weinstein litigation. The following year, she and her team were finalists for the same award in recognition of the landmark Riot Games settlement. She has also received the Excellence in Advocacy Award from the Beverly Hills Bar Association, CELA’s Joe Posner Award, and was named Los Angeles Employment Law – Lawyer of the Year by Best Lawyers. In addition, she has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America and Lawdragon for Plaintiff Employment Litigation.

Ms. Harrison has been selected to the Southern California Super Lawyers list every year since 2009. Since 2016, she has also been named to the publication’s prestigious Top Southern California lists, including the Top 10 and Top 50 Women. Her selection to the Top 10 in 2026 marked her eleventh consecutive year receiving that distinction.

The Daily Journal has repeatedly recognized Ms. Harrison as one of California’s Top Labor & Employment Lawyers and named her among the Top 100 Lawyers in California from 2022 through 2026.

Beyond the courtroom, Ms. Harrison is widely respected as a leader within California's plaintiffs’ bar. She served as President of CAALA in 2021, becoming only the fifth woman in the organization’s history to hold that office. In 2026, CAALA inducted her into its Hall of Fame in recognition of her contributions to the legal profession.

In 2021, Ms. Harrison also co-founded Resolve Law LA, a Virtual Mandatory Settlement Conference (MSC) Program for the Los Angeles County Superior Court, helping expand access to efficient dispute resolution for employment and civil litigation.

She frequently teaches trial advocacy, lectures at continuing legal education programs, writes on legal and social issues, and has served as a columnist for Ms. Magazine. Although many of her cases have produced record-setting results, she continues to measure success by whether she leaves the workplace better than she found it, and helps her clients take back their power, one case at a time.
