Details
Joshua F. Young is an attorney at Gilbert & Sackman, and he focuses his practice on complex labor and employment law litigation and related matters. He is located in the firm’s offices in Los Angeles, and he represents clients in the greater metropolitan area and throughout the state of California. Admitted to practice before all California state courts since 2004, Mr. Young is also admitted to practice in Colorado and Washington.
Mr. Young counts among his clients local chapters of unions, ERISA plan fiduciaries, and employees, and he has handled both individual lawsuits and class actions. Many of his cases have been grounded on violations of state and federal wage and hour laws, and he has achieved a great deal of success in these matters, covering overtime, minimum wage, misclassification of status and meal break periods. Some of Mr. Young’s representative results have included prevailing in an appeal as lead counsel for a group of misclassified truck drivers at the Port of Los Angeles near San Pedro, a multimillion-dollar settlement of a case against a manufacturer dealing with rest and meal period breaks, and a series of lucrative settlements in cases involving meal period violations committed by oil and gas refineries in California.
In addition to his courtroom work at both the trial and appellate levels, Mr. Young has appeared on behalf of his clients before the National Labor Relations Board as well as in hearings conducted by panels of arbitrators. A graduate of UCLA School of Law, he has frequently been asked to deliver presentations on selected labor and employment law topics before groups of fellow professionals, and he is a member of several legal organizations.
