Licensed to practice in California since 1979, Ms. Fernandez is authorized to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and the federal courts in California. She is a 1975 graduate of Stanford University. Later, she studied law at The George Washington University Law School and obtained her J.D. in 1978.

Fostering an engaged and close relationship with the legal community, Ms. Fernandez has memberships in associations including the Labor and Employment Law Section of The State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Assistance Dogs of the West and the Pitzer College Board of Trustees. She has also been an active speaker at various engagements and conferences, sharing her insight with her peers and the public.
