Matthew R. Hicks

Working from his office at BDG Law Group in Los Angeles, California, Matthew R. Hicks serves clients in matters involving business litigation, construction litigation and employment litigation. With nearly 30 years of experience in the legal field, he has handled a wide variety of construction and business cases, including trials, arbitration, mediations and prelitigation dispute resolution negotiations for private companies and public organizations. Throughout his career, he has represented owners, general contractors, individuals and public entities across the city.

Extending his broad experience to construction, Mr. Hicks has defended several claims, including order claims, differing site condition claims, inadequate design and construction defect claims, and statutory penalty claims, among others. His practice also includes payment enforcement/defense, administrative issues, and contract preparation and negotiation. His practice also equips him with the required knowledge to manage cases that fall between the two practice areas he counsels, like preventive risk analysis, wage issues and the False Claims Act.

Upon completing his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, Mr. Hicks went on to bolster his advocacy skills at Loyola Law School. He received his Juris Doctor in 1997 and, in the same year, was admitted to The State Bar of California. He is further licensed to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
