Michael G. Freedman

Serving the people of Los Angeles, California, attorney Michael G. Freedman is the founder of The Freedman Firm. With extensive experience as a trial attorney, he focuses his attention mainly on criminal defense along with high-stakes civil litigation. His clientele includes some of the most influential people in the state including celebrities, lawyers, business owners, doctors, cannabis companies and other professionals.

Mr. Freedman’s prior experience as a prosecutor helps to guide his clients discreetly through the challenging paths of the criminal justice system. He understands the relevance of a good lawyer in proving the innocence of an accused or getting a punishment reduced for individuals charged with a criminal case. He also knows the reputation and other prospects such as career that are at stake when a person is accused of a crime. Hence, he dedicates the whole of his efforts to fighting for his clients and defending their rights.

Graduating from the University of California, San Diego, Mr. Freedman went on to pursue Middle Eastern studies at Harvard University. He completed his Juris Doctor in 2011 from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco. While in law school, he had active involvement in the activities of various groups including the UC Hastings Moot Court Team. He externed for the Honorable Judge Susan Illston at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and Marsha S. Berzon at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.

Soon after graduation, Mr. Freedman joined as a law clerk at a law firm and served the Honorable Judge Johnnie B. Rawlinson at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. After a few years of experience, he worked as a prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice where he led several cases and got exposed to numerous investigations including health care fraud, organized crime, money laundering, violent crimes and national security crimes. 

Establishing his own firm in 2021, Mr. Freedman has quite a large number of successfully resolved civil lawsuits and acquittals for a broad range of cases to his credit. He was included in the Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch list under the category of White Collar Criminal Defense and was named a Legal Visionary as featured by the Los Angeles Times. He serves important roles in various prominent associations, such as:
