Michael L. Trope

With nearly four decades of experience in the legal sphere, Michael L. Trope is a dedicated family law attorney serving clients across Los Angeles. Working from the Law Offices of Kaplan, Trope, Gekht & Decarolis, LLP, in Los Angeles, California, he handles matters involving complex divorces, custody disputes, mediations, arbitrations and alimony disputes, among many others. He also counsels clients in cases involving wills and trusts as well as criminal and civil jury trials. 

Completing his bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California, Mr. Trope pursued his legal studies at Loyola Marymount University, where he earned his J.D. in 1981. Gaining early exposure to the legal system, he served at the public defender’s office before earning his license to practice law in California in 1987. This experience gave him not only practical experience but also insights into the defense system. He is also admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. 

Throughout the years, Mr. Trope has represented numerous clients, from big names in the entertainment industry to indigent people. Regardless of who the client is, he has always shown up with the same dedication to them. Most notably, he secured a $10 million lump sum retroactive child support payment for his client, along with an additional $100,000 per month in future child support.
