Shawn J. McCann is a dedicated personal injury attorney serving from the offices of BD&J, PC, in Los Angeles, California. Having recovered over $500 million on his clients' behalf throughout his career, he holds extensive experience in both trials and negotiations. Though he primarily handles personal injury cases like wrongful death, product liability and catastrophic injury cases, he also represents clients in business litigation.
A dedicated advocate for victims, Mr. McCann is known for his ability to achieve exceptional outcomes in the courtroom. In one standout case involving a rear-end collision caused by a defendant’s sudden left-hand turn, he overcame the defense's attempts to minimize the injuries and their low $20,000 settlement offer. His trial strategy resulted in a $1.2 million verdict, sixty times the defendant's original offer.
Graduating from Villanova University with a bachelor's in accounting in 2000, Mr. McCann enrolled at Loyola Law School for his legal studies. He received his J.D. in 2003 and was a frequent member of the dean's honor list. Licensed by The State Bar of California, he is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
Mr. McCann currently serves as the vice president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He previously served as the president of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles (CAALA). Among Shawn’s many accolades are the American Association of Justice's F. Scott Baldwin Trial Lawyer of the Year and CAALA Presidential Award in 2011. In 2008, he was recognized in Best Lawyers in America for Personal Injury Litigation-Plaintiffs list and consistently maintains a “Superb” rating on Avvo.
