Kai H. Wessels

Mr. Wessels has been practicing estate planning since 1993 and probate administration since 1995. In addition to his roles as a settlement attorney, arbitrator, mediator and judge pro-tem, he has been in private practice since 1986. He earned his Juris Doctor cum laude from the Golden Gate University School of Law and holds an undergraduate degree in history from the University of Maine. 

Admitted to the The State Bar of California and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California since 1985, Mr. Wessels’ experience includes externing for Chief Justice Malcolm Lucas of the California Supreme Court and working as a research attorney for the Santa Clara County Superior Court. He also served as an attorney for Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLC and provides ex parte reviews of probate pleadings for the Santa Clara County Superior Courts, independently reviewing documents and making recommendations for judges.

Mr. Wessels has also been involved in academia, teaching seminars on estate planning at the University of Phoenix and UCSC Silicon Valley Extension, the University of California at Santa Cruz, and leading seminars for business and financial associations like Morgan Stanley. His professional memberships include the Silicon Valley Bar Association, the Santa Clara County Estate Planning Council and various divisions of the Santa Clara County Bar Association.

Actively involved in his community, Mr. Wessels is also committed to pro bono activities, such as appealing freedom of association issues to the Supreme Court of the United States and supporting the Special Olympics.
