Attorney Theresa Barta is the founder and owner of Barta Law in Newport Beach, California. Ms. Barta obtained her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, in 1990, where she graduated Order of the Coif. She was also a member of the prestigious St. Thomas More Law Honor Society, and she received several American Jurisprudence Awards for her excellent academic achievements.
She received her license to practice from The State Bar of California the same year she graduated from law school, and she is admitted to practice before all U.S. District Courts in California as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th and 11th Circuits and the U.S. Supreme Court.
A leader in her field, Ms. Barta is the author of "Greed on Trial," which exposes several instances that Ms. Barta handled firsthand involving the wrongful termination of doctors who rebelled against insurance policies to deliver appropriate medical care to their patients. The book won the 2018 Indies Gold Award.
In addition, Ms. Barta also maintains active involvement in her legal community, and she is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the American Association for Justice, the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association, the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles and the National Association of Women Lawyers, among her other professional affiliations.

- Jeffrey Nordella, M.D. v. Anthem Blue Cross: $4.5 million Jury Verdict following a six week trial for Anthem's violation of Dr. Nordella's right to fair procedure. The jury awarded $4.5 million in damages for Anthem's wrongful exclusion of Dr. Nordella from Blue Cross' PPO Network and found that the doctor was entitled to punitive damages. A confidential settlement was reached prior to the punitive damages phase of trial
- In re Active Wallace Group: $3.6 Million Verdict. A federal bench trial involving claims of fraud and concealment resulted in a $3.6 million verdict that included a $1.8 million award of punitive damages
- Doe, M.D. vs. Doe Medical Group: $1 Million Settlement. Case involved claims of unfair competition, defamation and business interference between competing medical practices. Case was settled prior to trial
- Unnamed Physician v. Hoag Hospital: Writ of Mandamus Issued Setting Aside Disciplinary Action against Physician. The hospital's disciplinary actions of censure and placing the physician on probation were set aside by a trial court and California's Fourth District Court of Appeals after the courts found that the physician's right of fair procedure had been violated
- Doe Companies v. Does (Individuals and Companies): $2 Million Settlement. In a federal case, claims of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and conversion against corporate executives and related companies resulted in multiple settlements, including one for $2 million

- John Kohut, M.D. v. Beaver Medical Group: $1.6 Million Jury Verdict and Entitlement to Punitive Damages. The jury awarded $125,000 in economic damages and over $1.5 million in non-economic damages for the Medical Group's wrongful termination of a psychiatrist

The insurance company denied claims for on-going medical care for a life-threatening condition contending that the care was allegedly "not medically necessary".
